If you're thinking about getting scalp micropigmentation in Vancouver, it's just as important to know what happens after the procedure as it is to understand the treatment itself. At SMP Vancouver, we guide every client through the healing process to make sure your results look natural and last for years. Immediate Aftercare Immediately after your SMP session, you may notice some redness, mild tenderness, and a tight sensation on the scalp. This is completely normal and typically fades within 24–48 hours. The pigment will initially appear darker, but don’t worry — it softens to a more natural look as the scalp heals.

Week 1: Keep It Simple
During the first 4–5 days:
Avoid sweating, heavy exercise, or excessive sun exposure.
Do not wash your scalp — let it breathe and begin healing.
Avoid touching, scratching, or applying any products.
By day 5, you can gently rinse the area with lukewarm water and pat it dry. Still no shampoo just yet.

Week 2: Light Recovery
You can typically resume light activities and gently wash your scalp with a mild cleanser. Avoid harsh shampoos or exfoliants. It’s normal to experience light flaking as the scalp regenerates.
After 10 Days
At this point, most clients are ready for their next session. SMP is typically performed in 2–3 sessions for optimal layering and depth. Your artist will assess how the pigment has settled and plan accordingly.

Long-Term Maintenance
Once your final session is complete, your results can last 3–5 years. Simple long-term care includes:
Wearing sunscreen or a hat when outdoors
Using gentle cleansers
Touch-up sessions every few years as needed
